Consultancy - Centre for Risk, Resilience & Renewal - University of Canterbury - New Zealand

Developing an emergency preparedness programme for an organisation or institution is always a challenge.  In many cases, success comes from efforts of a few (or only one) committed individual/s who believe/s strongly that to be resilient, there must be an effective preparedness and business continuity plan.

Once in place, the plan must be a living document which is reviewed regularly to accommodate changes to the environment and, even more importantly, the plan must be practiced so that key personnel are educated and trained.   Where these training and practice session do occur, again it is often handled in-house by the staff that developed the plan.  Although this is logical, it denies those staff the opportunity to participate and practice their own plan and to develop critical skills as part of the wider response team.  This is where UCR3 can assist.

The experience our staff and associates have acquired over many years, our professional and academic qualifications, and because we strongly believe in supporting organisations and institutions with the development and delivery of their own unique plans which allow full participation by the staff who would be required to respond to any future event. A particular specialty we have is in the field of higher education emergency managment preparendness and we are currently working with various institutions to support planning relevant to each institution.
